Seeing Christmas decorations in Merida has been both strange and joyful. There is something strange about seeing cold climate stalwarts such as Santa, snowmen and reindeer taking prominence in a tropical climate. The lights at night are beautiful and families take advantage of the pleasant evening temperatures and enjoy the festive atmosphere in the parks. Here in Mexico, Jesus is the reason for the season and it goes beyond Christmas Day and into the Epiphany, Dias de los Reyes. We wandered around last night and took some shots of the colorful lights and nativity display. Jesus seemed to be missing from the manger.
We flew to Mexico City this morning. Tomorrow….the Monarchs!
